In times of natural disaster, rates of Domestic Violence are known to increase, with women and children being most significantly at risk. That’s why we, at Anglicare, are particularly concerned about what this time of coronavirus restrictions might mean for real people experiencing violence or abuse in their homes, around Australia.
During this pandemic, while our communities keep their social distance from one another, it’s very likely that the result will be an increase in Domestic Violence.
If you are struggling to know how to support someone who is experiencing Domestic Violence… if you have recently noticed behaviours which concern you… or if you are living in an unsafe situation, yourself, here is some advice from Anglicare’s Family and Domestic Violence Advisor, Lynda Dunstan. We’ve also compiled some additional links to helpful resources and contacts to support you through this time.
